One of my favorite parts of game design is dreaming up and creating unique characters. The picture shown here is of the main character in the game, Riley. On the technical side of things, Riley is nothing more than a series of several thousand pixels with roughly 350 frames of animation (not including cut-scenes). But beyond the obvious -- what makes that character what it is?

The design process can be compared to raising a child in some ways. You create it from nothing, nurture it, and help it grow into what you'd like it to be. There's plenty of road blocks along the way, and problems that need to be solved. If you treat it with love (because really, you have to love what you create -- or why do it at all?) it will reflect in the finished product. Next Page (2)->
